Tell us something about your career background?
I have worked in a commercial for wireless service company, U.S. Cellular for their holiday 2013 spot! For that particular spot, I had the opportunity to work with acclaimed director, Ruben Fleischer (previous directorial pursuits include Gangster Squad, 30 minutes or less and Zombieland with Emma Stone and Jesse Eisenberg.) In Jada Pinkett Smith’s poignant music video on the topic of woman trafficking, Sonam played a prominent role and was directed by Salma Hayek who teamed with Jada to make this video and Jada’s vision a reality. I have also walked the red carpet at AFI, IFFLA and LA Femme festivals in Los Angeles
Brief about the episodic series?
I have been cast as a recurring character in the long running episodic TV series “Destiny”, part of the Cineplex Entertainment distribution group. The series has been successfully running since 2009 and airs on CW Channel 11, ABC TV Channel 7 and KVMD TV. Directed by Fred Copeland (ABC producer and president of Cineplex Studios), I play the role of Jourdeda, who is a lawyer and one of the empresses (or ‘journeys’ as the mother ‘Destiny’ calls her daughters) in this series based in the mystical and beautiful land of Egypt.
What are your future plans?
Catch me on the silver screen in January 2014 as one of the ex-girlfriends in Troy Byer Bailey’s latest flick ‘Ex-Free’! I have played a supporting role in Phil Condit’s ‘Empress Vampire’ which has showcased at several film festivals such as the LA Film Festival and the Motor City Nightmare Film Festival! A scary, spicy flick if you were interested in knowing more. Besides, I will also be the lead in director Anand Algappan’s (director of well-known Indian actress Pooja Kumar’s ‘Anything for you’) next feature called ‘The Night’, and will start shooting in January of 2014.
