KMV PG Dept. Of Mathematics Celebrates World Pi Day

Mar 14, 2016: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- The Heritage Institution, Jalandhar’s P.G. Dept. of Mathematics celebrated world Pi by playing games related to the irrational number which is equal to the ratio of the circumference of the diameter of a circle. A pi cake was also cut by PG students of Mathematics on the occasion.

This day is celebrated on March 14th ,2016 as the date of this day is 14.3 whose mirror image is 3.14 which is equal to the value of Pi . Ms. Vaishali and Ms. Kiran also spoke to the students about Aryabhatta, the great Indian Mathematician and Astrologer who was the first to give the value of Pi . The purpose behind this function was to make the students aware of the history of the interesting number used by all related to the field of Science and Mathematics.

Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated the Head Dept. of Mathematics Ms. Veena Deepak for having organized such a fruitful event, also present on the occasion were Dr. Kamaljit Kaur, Dr. Updesh Kaur, Dr. Parminder Kaur and Dr. Madhumeet. All the faculty members were also congratulated for having organised a very meaningful event.
