Today on his 153rd birthday, proclaimed as National Youth Day, celebrate the wisdom that this beautiful soul illuminated us with during his tragically short life. Several functions are being organized across the country to celebrate the 152nd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

He was a major force in the revival of Hinduism in India, and contributed to the concept of nationalism in colonial India.

From the book, The Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda: Karma in its effect on Character. The goal of mankind is knowledge, that is the one ideal placed before us by Eastern philosophy. Bear in mind, my children, that only cowards and those who are weak commit sin and tell lies. The brave are always moral. Try to be moral, try to be brave, try to be sympathising.

As I look back upon the history of my country, I do not find in the whole world another country which has done quite so much for the improvement of the human mind. Therefore I have no words of condemnation for my nation. I tell them, “You have done well; only try to do better.” said by Swami Vivekanand.

In his teachings Swami Vivekananda said that, All the wealth in the world cannot help one little Indian village if the people are not taught to help themselves. Our work should be mainly educational, both moral and intellectual. “Wake up, stop not until the goal is reached”. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success.

In a series of tweets, Modi praised the visionary Swami Vivekananda on his birth anniversary and highlighted the importance of his thoughts and teachings. Swami Vivekananda is revered as one of the most prolific thinkers & a guiding light who took India’s message to the entire world. On his birth anniversary, I bow to Swami Vivekananda. He is a personal inspiration, whose thoughts & ideals have influenced me deeply tweeted by Narendera Modi today.
