Desh Bhagat University Celebrates Ambedkar Jayanti

April 14: Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh celebrated Dr.B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti in collaboration with Central Valmiki Sabha (India). The event was organized by Desh Bhagat University and Dr. B.R.Ambedkar Jagriti welfare society (regd.). The Jagriti Yatra was organized which started from Amloh and ended at Desh Bhagat University campus.

Dr. Zora Singh, Hon’ble Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University congratulated everyone and said that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was popularly known as Babasaheb Ambedkar and everyone knows that he was one of the architects of the Indian Constitution. He was a very well-known political leader, eminent jurist, Buddhist activist, philosopher, anthropologist, historian, orator, writer, economist, scholar and editor.

Dr. Davinder Singh, Director, Department of Social Science shared his views that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was the leader of the Dalits. He fought against the issue of caste discrimination. He played a key role in the framing of the Indian Constitution. He led the movement started by the Dalits to have the right to enter temples. He was a vocal critic of the caste system. Dr. Davinder Singh also shared that free medical camp, education awareness camp, career counselling sessions, social welfare camp, anti-drugs campaigns were also organised during the event.

Dr. Kuldeep Chand Agnihotri, Central University, Himachal Pradesh, Sri. Pramod Kumar, Head, Social Welfare, Sri Davinder Ji, Superintendent, Khadi Board Punjab were the guest speakers of the event. The speakers of the event shared their views on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar life, his social causes and his role in the framing of the Indian Constitution.
