CHD: 17 March( YI24) Punjab and Haryana high court to probe the incident wherein gangster Lawrence Bishnoi had reportedly given an interview to a news channel from inside a jail.
The petition filed by Gourave Bhayyia Gilhotra, a Chandigarh-based lawyer and a Mohali resident has sought directions to appoint central agency to inquire and register FIR against the person responsible for specifically conducting interview from the jail premises of a Class-A category gangster involved in more than 30 cases of murder, extortion and ransom
According to the petitioners, it is strange that the interview has been conducted from jail premises through a very sophisticated studio setup under the direct security of the concerned jail and in view of the fact that state of Punjab has publicly and without conducting any preliminary inquiry into the incident of specially live telecast/streaming of the interview of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi with the national level media house.
Thus this incident has presumably shattered and failed the entire system of jails and broke all the provisions of jail manual and rule of law and it requires interference by the HC to fix the responsibility of concerned persons and impartial inquiry into whole incident by a national level agency as the said gangster is not only involved in multiple cases in Punjab but also involved in anti-national activities and being interrogated by the national investigation agency (NIA) regarding his links with the terrorist organizations and involvement in organizations and involvement in organized mafia operating from jails with associates criminal throughout world,” says the petition that is expected to come up for hearing next week.
Further directions have also been sought to order a judicial inquiry under the supervision of HC by a session division by calling the record, data and details from the concerned media house and jail authorities for a transparent adjudication of the entire incident and to ensure the faith of the general public in rule of law.
